From the Pastor’s study…

A Leitmotif is the mood music that accompanies every appearance of a particular character in a film or opera, and David, the Old Testament Shepherd, King and Musician, developed his own version which we find in the psalms and a few other places. Others often took up the refrain and made it their own and we would do well to adopt it as our personal theme tune. The problem is we lost the tune centuries ago, so you have to write your own melody for: “Give thanks to the Lord for He is good, His love endures for ever.”

On June 16th we shall celebrate “Thanksgiving Sunday” and there will be opportunity for individual testimonies of the goodness of the Lord as we give thanks together. One of the hardest commands in the New Testament is to give thanks in all circumstances, but when you include what lies in the past, the blessings of a relationship with our heavenly Father and His promise of a secure and wonderful eternity, there’s always something to praise Him for! Then roll your mind round the greatness of our God and the fact that the all-wise, almighty, all-loving creator is actually YOUR God and sing your song again! 1Thessalonians 5:17-18 suggests God would have us be joyful, prayerful and thankful, a neat little trio to bring with you on 16th!

                    Yours in Jesus’ name,
