Walk in trust with the Lord

I’ve been looking again at our verse for 2013 – Deuteronomy 31:8 – and that wonderful encouragement to walk in trust with the Lord.  It would take a long time to list the good things we need from the Lord in our walk through life, and even longer to imagine all that might happen along the way, but the simple promise of His presence covers every situation with all that He can bring.

I was thinking about a bedridden lady who took great comfort from that verse every day. Then there’s the young couple making big decisions about their future, and our students going off to Uni. Most poignant of all, the terrible situation in Syria and the thousands of families grieving, living in fear or leaving everything in the hope of finding some semblance of peace. And all of those people represent many more whose stories we don’t even know. What for us is a nice verse to glance at occasionally on the fridge door is for them  ”the word that sustains the weary” (Isaiah50:4) every day.

Whenever you see that fridge magnet, as well as praising the Lord for what it means to you personally, take some time to pray for those people for whom it is a spiritual lifeline, that they will experience the truth behind those words
