From The Elders Study February 2015

February is not so far from New Year and there is the opportunity to reflect on all the promises that were made in the early days of January. Have I prayed more often? Eaten less? Read the bible more often ? Gone to the gym? Been to home group? Given more time to the family ? Gone to church more often? Reduced in weight? Grown spiritually ? Got less material things? Eaten more (fair trade!) chocolate ? Brought people to know Christ?
The lists and targets and promises we set ourselves are often muddled and mixed up and do not last very long. We desire improvement and it is not straightforward.

The promises of God are, by contrast, certain. God has done everything for us in Jesus.

For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy Hebrews 10v 14

Christians are changed people. Christ can change everything.
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus Philippians 2 v5
