Pastor’s Blog July 2018

Last month we were blessed to have with us for a week a team of young people from Waco, Texas. During their week with us, they were able to visit schools and colleges in Bramhall, Cheadle Hulme, Stockport and Manchester, spend time with local young people at The Mill and participate in many of our own youth and children’s activities. On the final Saturday evening they led a Texas Night which was attended by up to 100 people many from outside the church. I think we would all agree it was a very good week.

I just wanted to reflect on why these kind of partnerships are important for us:

  1. They are an expression of the unity of the church. We do need regularly reminding that BBC is only a tiny part of a truly diverse and international church. Sharing this time with our team from Waco, reminds us that despite significant differences we are all one in Christ.
  2. They are an encouragement to us. It was brilliant to hear the Waco team boldly sharing their testimonies with the people at the Texas Night. It was great that our children and young people had opportunities to spend time with other young people whose example will, “build up and strengthen them” in their own developing faith. We should also recognise that we are an encouragement to them and this trip is helping these young people to grow as disciples.
  3. They help us to advance our mission, particularly among young people. On the Saturday night there were probably a dozen or so young people from outside the church who were drawn to the event through the time they had spent with the Team. We should be praying that what has been sown will in time bear the fruit of lives committed to Jesus.

So thanks to Bob and his Team, we look forward to 2020.
